John Levy

John Levy founded LMS with John Mock and Pat Stacker in 2002. He brings extensive expertise in portfolio and asset management. As a former institutional pension fund advisor and with an early background in property management, he contributes valuable insight into the entire investment and management process. Prior to founding LMS, John worked for Alex Brown Kleinwort Benson (ABKB, subsequently acquired by LaSalle Partners) as Managing Director in charge of portfolio management. He oversaw a team of 30 people and managed a $1.7 billion portfolio for CALPERS. He also acted as a fiduciary and rendered portfolio management services for the state retirement systems of Oregon, Utah, and Alaska, and for various public pension funds. John also has experience as Executive VP of Asset Management with John Hancock Properties in Boston, First Vice President, Regional Manager for Coldwell Banker’s (CB) property management operations in the eastern U.S., and Vice President for CB’s Seattle o ice. John has supervised extensive portfolios of apartments, o ices, retail and industrial properties, valued at up to $2.2 billion. John also has experience in property management, twice named national “Property Manager of the Year” for Coldwell Banker, managing numerous property investments as large as 750 units. Married to a New Zealand native, John travels to New Zealand each year with his wife.

John Mock

John Mock, one of the founders of LMS, oversees the day-to-day company and property operations. John’s background includes managing multi-family and commercial properties throughout the country. Prior to co-founding LMS in 2002, John served as CB Commercial Executive Vice President for the Major Buildings Division. In this role, he supervised all regional managers of CB’s 30 million square foot Major Buildings Division, including the John Hancock Building in Chicago and One Market Plaza in San Francisco. John began his property management experience with William Walters Company and first joined CB managing both multi-family and commercial properties. He was promoted to Vice President, District Manager for CB’s property management operations for the San Francisco Bay area, which included a portfolio of multi-family properties ranging from smaller low rent urban properties to large expensive high-rise apartments. John later served as Regional Manager for CB’s Midwest Region, in turn becoming a division-level position where he was responsible for the operations of all property management operations from Denver to the East Coast. With LMS, John continues his direct involvement in all properties and personnel decisions. In his o time, John enjoys touring Europe with bicycle touring groups and serves as LMS’ resident sommelier.

Patrick Harwell

Patrick is responsible for LMS’ Investment and Asset Management activities. Approaching 20 years of real estate investment experience and total transactions over $1 billion, Patrick has extensive expertise acquiring, rehabilitating, developing and operating multifamily investment properties in the Southeast. Patrick’s experience with all multifamily product classes and widespread relationships with owners, brokers and lenders allows him to see emerging trends and quickly identify investment opportunities to fit LMS and its client’s investment objectives. In addition to leading LMS’ investment activities, he advises numerous diverse international investment firms with their U.S. based real estate investments. His understanding of complex cross-border structuring requirements allows him to tailor investment strategies to maximize the unique investment goals of LMS’ international clients. This experience includes the formation and co-sponsorship of a cross-border real estate investment fund. Prior to joining LMS, Patrick worked at Bayer Properties, LLC as an award-winning broker specializing in the sale of investment properties. He consistently set sales and lease records for the market and assisted development projects with site selection and entitlement. An entrepreneur at heart, Patrick has owned and managed a multi-million dollar horticultural services company and founded and sold three fitness facilities. He is the past president of the Commercial Real Estate Club of Birmingham and has earned the CCIM designation. Patrick has a Finance degree from Auburn University and an MBA from Auburn University-Montgomery. He was inducted into Spade Honorary as one of the 10 most influential members of the senior class.

Controller

Kevin Walker

Kevin Walker is a CPA with 20 years of accounting management experience in both public and private industries, with expertise in developing and implementing improvements in financial reporting and control processes. Kevin has experience as Controller & Assistant Controller of two mid-sized real estate development and property management companies, leading accounting teams to provide financial reporting for large institutional investors such as AIG Global Real Estate Investments and several national and international banks, with consolidated assets exceeding $1 billion. Kevin has also served as Accounting Manager and Financial Reporting Manager at two publicly-traded companies, leading accounting and financial reporting for international divisions. Kevin has developed and implemented financial reporting processes and models to improve management oversight and profitability, including improved cost management and cost reduction. In addition, he has worked with cash flow and earnings forecasting models to better manage daily cash flows, achieve earnings targets, and comply with bank debt covenant requirements. Kevin has a B.S. in Finance from Auburn University and a B.S. in Accounting from Troy University. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Alabama Society of Certified Public Accountants.
