The Happiness Trap: How to Stop Struggling and Start Living: A Guide to ACT, by Russ Harris

Ideas I found interesting:

Feeling good:

Conflict resolution techniques – first reaction should be investigative not offensive A.

Empathy – ask questions to get specific details and ask for clarification of points. Argument should not be about general items or labels.

  1. Disarming – in the very beginning agree and see what can be done to solve.
  2. Agree with criticism, thank the person for proving you with i formation, and apologize for any harm it might have caused

We all have and act according to our own value systems. So you cannot get angry or expect another person to act according to your own value system or consider him acting unfairly towards you.

Empathy is the highest form of magic and the best anger antidote. It’s difficult to acquire because as humans we are trapped in our own perception and cannot easily understand others people feelings and motivations.

A person thinks I am this – if it’s  true what would it mean to me?  -> automatic thought -> again  if it’s  true what would it mean to me? -> keep repeating to expose silent assumptions  (vertical arrow method)
