Banner Apartments is a fully integrated real estate operating company based in Northbrook, Illinois that focuses on the acquisition, management and development of multifamily properties in select Southeast, Sun Belt, and Midwest markets. Since its founding in 1989, Banner has acquired and operated 43 multi-family properties totaling over 9,200 units. The current portfolio consists of over 6,500 units, valued at approximately $600 million.

Brian Toomey
Brian Toomey is the Director of Acquisitions of Banner and is responsible for deal sourcing, property underwriting and escrow management. Brian joined a Banner affiliate in 2001 with over ten years of previous experience in acquisitions, dispositions, management and valuation and is a member of the Investment Committee. Brian began his career in real estate in 1990 with JMB Properties Company in Chicago, IL. At JMB, Brian was trained in property management on a 5,000 unit, institutional grade, multifamily portfolio in Southern California. Additionally, Brian participated on several acquisition and disposition teams throughout the Western US, as JMB was an active fund manager throughout the 1980’s and 1990’s. Joining the Lusk Company in 1995, Brian prepared and guided a smaller, developer-owned apartment portfolio to be sold, and then ultimately joined Lexford Properties, the fee management company for the successful purchasers of the portfolio. At Lexford, Brian progressed into management of a diverse multi-state portfolio consisting of conventional, affordable and senior housing. Upon Brian’s departure from Lexford, he carved out a niche in consulting and valuation services for developers, operators and financiers of real estate and worked independently throughout Southern California and Chicagoland until his arrival at Banner. Brian received his Bachelor of Science, with a degree in Finance from Illinois State University, in 1990.
