Leading our team, Darren oversees the day-to-day operations including development and investment activities, investor relations, and guides Forum’s unique approach to creating branded boutique properties. His experience and vision drive our strategy for identifying unique acquisition and development opportunities by understanding the location and demographics, bringing together high-end architects, designers and branding experts, and making one-of-a-kind places and experiences. In addition, Darren oversees our finance activities in debt and equity. His specialization in multifamily finance comes from a depth of experience at Johnson Capital Group that spans from large, institutional projects to small, boutique communities. Darren was responsible for the production of over $3.5 billion in funding during his past at Johnson Capital, where he has been the top producer nationally. Darren graduated from the University of Colorado. Darren was born in Los Gatos, California and has resided in Colorado since 1992. He enjoys hunting, fishing, and anything on water or the outdoors. His favorite sport is chasing his 2, 4, and 6 year olds.
Mr. Shuman is the Chief Financial Officer of Forum Real Estate Group. In this role he directs the back office functions of the company with primary responsibility for accounting, tax, treasury management, financial planning and analysis, compliance, risk management, and financial reporting. Prior to joining Forum Real Estate Group, Mr. Shuman served as Chief Financial Officer for Griffis Residential, Carmel Partners and Mercy Housing and as Senior Vice President of Finance for Aimco, an S&P 500 multifamily housing REIT. Mr. Shuman graduated from the University of Maryland with a B.A. in Economics and Accounting and is a Certified Public Accountant. Mr. Shuman has served on the Board or as a Trustee of the Housing Partnership Network, Mercy Loan Fund, Stewards for Affordable Housing, and the National Affordable Housing Trust. Born in Washington, D.C. and having met his wife in Los Angeles, Brian has lived with his wife and three children in Colorado since 2003. He enjoys golfing, skiing and fishing.
