HFS Capital Partners is an independent asset management firm organized to execute proprietary investment strategies for qualified individuals, families and institutions. We follow an opportunistic approach to investing and search for investments that meet the long-term risk and return requirements of our clients. Since 2002, we have invested in excess of $400 million of equity capital representing over $600 million in total assets in proprietary investments. HFS Capital Partners, LLC pursues investment strategies it believes present rewarding risk and return characteristics:
Real Estate Debt: Through a series of annual funds, HFS-CP invests in real estate mortgages that are secured predominantly by first lien deeds of trust on real estate assets.
Real Estate Equity: Through single purpose entities, HFS-CP invests in a diverse collection of real estate assets including but not limited to: new and existing multi-family, residential and commercial land, new and existing retail and medical office.
Alternative Strategies: HFS-CP creates funds to access other alternative strategies including hedge funds, oil and gas and tax liens.
John joined the firm in 2003 and is responsible for the investment activities of HFS Capital Partners. Additionally, he serves as the Managing Director and Director of Investments of our affiliated wealth management firm, Howard Financial Services, Ltd, an SEC Registered Investment Advisor. In those capacities, John is responsible for general firm oversight and firm investment activities including investment research, due diligence and portfolio construction.
Prior to joining the firm, John worked for Deutsche Bank Alex Brown providing wealth management and investment services to institutional, corporate and high net worth clients.
John graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and a minor in Business Administration.
Stephen joined the firm in 2011 and works on proprietary investment opportunities. He performs investment research, due diligence and manages existing investments.
Prior to joining the firm, Stephen worked in New York at DLJ Merchant Banking Partners and Compass Partners on a broad range of private equity transactions across the business services, healthcare and industrial sectors. Before DLJ, Stephen worked in the Mergers & Acquisitions Group at UBS Investment Bank where he executed financial advisory assignments for corporate clients and financial sponsors.
Stephen graduated from Southern Methodist University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting and Master of Science in Accounting.
