Greg Merage is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of MIG Real Estate. He provides overall strategic investment direction and leads the operational and investment activities of the Firm as it actively grows its' portfolio of assets. Under Greg’s leadership, MIG Real Estate has successfully grown its portfolio to more than nine million square feet of investment properties totaling more than $1.5 billion in assets under management throughout the Sunbelt and Western U.S. With more than 20 years of real estate investment experience, Greg has managed and executed investment strategies across a diverse array of both residential and commercial properties. Prior to founding MIG Real Estate, Greg held positions with some of the industry’s leading real estate, investment banking and private equity firms including Signet Partners/Meridian Homes, Southern California Presbyterian Homes, Deutsche Banc Alex Brown, Robertson Stephens and Merlin Nexus. Greg received a B.S. in Real Property Development from the University of Southern California and a MBA in Finance, Strategy and Marketing from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University. Greg is also a graduate of the Advanced Management Development Program in Real Estate at the Harvard University Graduate School of Design.
Dave Patty is Senior Director of Investments for MIG Real Estate. A 30-year real estate industry veteran, Dave oversees the implementation of the firm’s investment strategy across all asset classes, its formulation and execution of asset management strategies, and its financing activities. He is also primarily responsible for the company’s banking and other lender relationships. Prior to joining MIG Real Estate, Dave was an Executive Vice President within the Investment Properties Group of the Irvine Company, one of the largest private real estate companies in the U.S. During his tenure, he was instrumental in expanding its investment portfolio of office, flex-tech, industrial, mini-storage, retail, hotel and multifamily properties from 7 million square feet to more than 50 million square feet. Dave also implemented an acquisition program that resulted in the addition of approximately 14 million square feet of office and multifamily properties for The Irvine Company. Prior to his role at the Irvine Company, he held positions as Chief Financial Officer of Donahue Schriber and Regional VP of Finance with Lincoln Property Company. Dave is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). He holds a B.S. in Accounting from Arizona State University.
Sherry DuPont serves as the General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer for MIG Real Estate and is responsible for the legal oversight of the Firm’s business activities, entity structuring, investor relations and compliance. Sherry has more than 20 years experience in private equity, fund management, real estate and finance. She has negotiated several billion dollars of real estate transactions during her time as General Counsel for both private equity firms and publicly traded companies. Most recently she served as the General Counsel and COO for the LaeRoc Funds. She also served as General Counsel for IndyMac Bank and Division Counsel for the real estate investment group of Goldman Sachs (formerly Archon Group). Sherry practiced law at Paul, Hastings and was a partner at the firm of Cox, Castle & Nicholson. Sherry holds a Juris Doctorate from the University of Southern California and two bachelors of arts degrees in English and Political Science from the University of California Berkeley.
Phillip Matchett is the Director of Office Investments for MIG Real Estate where he shares responsibility for the leasing, operations and property management of the Firm’s office and retail investment properties and strategically monitors their performance to achieve desired results. Phil brings 25 years of real estate experience. Prior to joining MIG Real Estate, Phil spent 5 years as Senior Vice President of Asset Management & Acquisition at Birtcher Anderson Realty Company overseeing acquisitions, asset and property management on a mixed use portfolio including office, industrial, and retail properties. Prior to Birtcher Anderson, Phil spent 10 years as the Vice President/Director of Operations and Asset Management for CarrAmerica Realty Corporation where he oversaw the operation of the Southern California region consisting of approximately 8 million square feet of office property. Phil’s career also included working at other notable real estate companies such as Layton-Belling & Associates and Tooley & Company.
