Thomas W. Callinan

Tom founded Pacific Union Development Company in 1975 with the objective of utilizing land and existing buildings to meet the various real estate demands of an urban market. As President of the company, Tom is responsible for the creation and management of new development opportunities. Prior to founding the company, Tom served as Vice President of First Interstate Mortgage in San Francisco, where he directed the financing of residential developments, and specialized in low and moderate income housing. Tom graduated from Marquette University, and then served as a Captain in the U.S. Marine Corps. He subsequently worked for two years as Assistant Program Director with Catholic Relief Services in East Africa. Tom is actively involved with Warrior Canine Connection, a foundation that trains service dogs for military veterans suffering from physical and/or psychological injuries. Tom is a member of Lambda Alpha, and also serves on several Boards.

Nathan Nishiguchi

Nathan joined Pacific Union Development Company in 2012 as Chief Operating Officer and Head of Acquisitions. Nathan leads the company’s acquisition efforts as well as oversees operations of the existing portfolio. Previously, Nathan was an investment banker with Jefferies and Company advising clients on M&A and capital raising transactions. Nathan received his MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, and his B.S. in Finance from Santa Clara University. Nathan is a licensed real estate broker in California, and an active member of SPUR and ULI.

Joel Roos

Joel joined Pacific Union Development Company in 1993 as Vice President of Development. Joel is responsible for generating new development opportunities as well as managing the day-to-day development of the company’s projects. Joel specializes in complex, large-scale, mixed-use urban infill projects. He recently completed the development of the Maxwell Family Field and Stadium Garage complex at UC Berkeley and managed the entitlements of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art’s expansion project. He is the owner’s representative managing the $130 million redevelopment of the Jewish Home of San Francisco and is managing a new mixed-use student housing complex to be developed on San Francisco State University’s campus. Joel is a graduate of Hampshire College with a BA in Architectural History. He has served on several nonprofit boards and currently serves on the board of the San Francisco Friends School and Congregation Emanu-El. Joel is a member of ULI, SPUR and Lambda Alpha.
