Robert Scanlan

Mr. Scanlan has 40 years of regional and national commercial real estate experience. Prior to founding SKB, he worked for CB Commercial, Inc. (CB Richard Ellis) for 18 years, where he held various management positions in Portland and Seattle, and senior management positions in Denver, New York and Los Angeles, concluding as President of Capital Markets and as a Director with responsibility for investment banking, mortgage banking, appraisal and consultation. He and three other senior officers led a leveraged buyout of CB Commercial, Inc. with The Carlyle Group from Sears in 1989. Before joining CB Commercial, Inc., he served as Vice President & National Operations Manager for W.W. Grainger, Inc. in Chicago. Mr. Scanlan has served as trustee of Reed College, Portland Art Museum, Oregon Museum of Science & Industry, Portland State University, Los Angeles Theatre Center, Denver Center for the Performing Arts, chaired Finance Committee to create Portland Center for the Performing Arts, and is a past President and Lifetime Trustee of Providence St. Vincent Medical Foundation. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Beloit College.

Todd Gooding

Mr. Gooding brings 21 years of commercial real estate experience. He started his real estate career as a licensed real estate appraiser. Prior to joining SKB in 1996, he served as Vice President of Acquisitions for G.E. Capital Investment Advisors and Senior Real Estate Analyst with CB Commercial, Inc. both in San Francisco. In these capacities, he underwrote over $500 million of commercial real estate investments for clients such as General Motors retirement funds, CalPers and the AT&T Master Pension Trust. Mr. Gooding is credited with developing SKB’s “value-add / opportunistic” acquisition platform. He was named a Principal in 2002 and President and Chief Investment Officer in 2006. During his tenure at SKB, Mr. Gooding has overseen $2 billion of acquisitions, $1 billion of dispositions and $200 million in real estate debt placement and restructuring. He is responsible for sourcing and maintaining SKB’s institutional capital partner relationships. He received his Bachelors of Science degree in Finance from the University of Oregon.

Senior Vice President – Acquisitions and Dispositions

John Olivier

Mr. Olivier has been in the real estate industry for over two decades. He started his career in the practice of law, representing several national and regional lenders, owners and developers in over $1.5 billion of real estate transactions, including acquisitions and dispositions, financing, joint ventures and ground-up development. In 2005, he left his role as partner with a regional Florida law firm to pursue opportunities on the business side of the real estate industry. During that time, he gained significant experience in the acquisition, entitlement and development of a variety of projects, including retail, office, mixed-use, condominium, subdivision and hospitality assets. In addition to his legal and development experience, Mr. Olivier recently managed a distressed debt platform, where he oversaw the acquisition and disposition of over $250 million in distressed debt throughout the western United States. Most recently, he was a key team member of a local development group, where he managed the development of multiple hospitality assets, valuing in excess of $300 million, with significant involvement in the EB-5 program. In early 2015, Mr. Olivier brought his broad skill set to SKB. He has a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Tulsa and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Oklahoma. Though no longer practicing law, he continues to be a member of the Oregon and Florida Bars.

James V. Paul

As Executive Vice President, Mr. Paul leads the asset management department. He oversees numerous critical functions for SKB’s portfolio including developing investment strategies, property valuations, dispositions, asset operations and loan workouts. Mr. Paul is also responsible for asset management for a portfolio of assets and complements the firm’s due diligence, acquisitions and investor relations efforts. Mr. Paul possesses 13 years of experience in the real estate private equity industry and has underwritten more than 30 closed acquisitions totaling over $1 billion in value. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Oregon and is an Associate Member of the Institute of Real Estate Management.

Chris Courtiol

Mr. Courtiol has 20 years of experience in finance. Prior to joining SKB in 2016 as Senior Managing Director, Chris was an investor in several SKB sponsored real estate offerings over the last 13 years. Chris was a commodities option trader on three different New York commodities exchanges for 15 years, founded and operated a company to help businesses affected by the 2010 BP Deepwater Horizon oil spill, and is an active angel investor in start-up and growth stage companies. Mr. Courtiol is an active volunteer for All Hands Volunteers and a youth athletics coach. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Miami University and FINRA Series 22 and 63 licenses.

Richard D. Morean

Mr. Morean joined SKB in 2013 and brings with him over 25 years of national real estate acquisition, development, equity investment, and asset management experience. Prior to joining SKB he served as Senior Director for GE Capital Real Estate and ran the Denver, CO office for the firm’s national J.V. equity platform. While at GE, Mr. Morean was responsible for national J.V. equity partner relationships and helped to initiate the firm’s third-party fund management strategy, which included deal flow generation of over $1B. He also held senior positions with Kennedy Associates Real Estate Counsel, Trammell Crow Company, and Trammell Crow Asset Services. Mr. Morean’s diverse real estate background includes deep national market knowledge and a comprehensive understanding of diverse product types including office, industrial, retail, multifamily, and land. He has been involved in all critical elements of the real estate process including; client relations, acquisitions, dispositions, financing, asset management, and management & leasing. Additionally, he is active with numerous national real estate organizations including ULI, NAIOP, ICSC, and NMHC. Mr. Morean will focus on building diverse capital market relationships for SKB, including national institutional investors and family offices in order to support the firm’s regional acquisition strategy. Mr. Morean received his MBA from the American Graduate School of International Management “Thunderbird” and a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from Colorado State University.

Margaret Hill

Ms. Hill possesses over 20 years of experience in commercial real estate finance and real estate merchant banking. She oversees distribution of subscription materials, quarterly reports, K-1s and all investor correspondence, and acts as a liaison between investors and all SKB departments. Ms. Hill also serves as a member of the Investment Committee. During her tenure with SKB, Ms. Hill has overseen the placement of over $1 billion of capital. She joined SKB in 2000 after eight years in San Francisco as a senior loan administrator and assistant vice president with mortgage banker Trowbridge, Kieselhorst & Co., Inc. Ms. Hill has served on the boards of San Francisco Commercial Real Estate Women, The Junior League of San Francisco, Portland Commercial Real Estate Women, The Junior League of Portland, and the Portland Suburban Delta Gamma Alumnae Chapter. She is chair of the Guide Dogs for the Blind Pinot & Pups Gala, a regional coordinator for the Delta Gamma Foundation, and actively volunteers with the Northwest Association for Blind Athletes and the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from California State University and FINRA Series 22 and 63 licenses.
