Jay Shidler

Mr. Shidler is the Founder and Managing Partner of The Shidler Group. A nationally acknowledged expert and innovator in the field of real estate investment and finance, Mr. Shidler is known for his ability to identify significant emerging real estate and financial trends and for his effectiveness in organizing and capitalizing new companies to benefit from those trends. Mr. Shidler received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Hawaii in 1968. Upon graduation, he was commissioned as an officer in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He left military service in 1971, returning to Honolulu to form The Shidler Group. Mr. Shidler is an active supporter of a number of educational, cultural and charitable organizations, including The Shidler College of Business at the University of Hawaii, The Shidler Family Foundation and the Honolulu Museum of Art.

Lawrence Taff

Mr. Taff is a Managing Partner with The Shidler Group overseeing financial management and property operations in Honolulu. Joining The Shidler Group in 1995, Mr. Taff has been instrumental in planning new ventures and property acquisitions. Mr. Taff also serves as President of Pacific Office Properties Trust, Inc. responsible for overseeing the operations of its Honolulu region. He is also a principal of its advisor, Shidler Pacific Advisors. Mr. Taff began his career with the international accounting firm of Arthur Andersen LLP in 1980. Rising to the position of Tax Partner in 1993, he was responsible for real estate consulting as well as tax compliance and consulting. Mr. Taff received a bachelor’s degree in accounting from California Polytechnic University, Pomona and is a certified public accountant.

Kimberly Aquino

Ms. Aquino is a Managing Partner of The Shidler Group overseeing new ventures and investment initiatives. Since joining The Shidler Group in 1991, Ms. Aquino has been instrumental in the Shidler Group’s initiatives including the founding and capitalization of its public and private companies and the acquisition and financing of its investment portfolio. Ms. Aquino was named Partner in 2009 and Managing Partner in 2013, since which time she has overseen the Shidler Group’s investments in over $1.3 billion of real estate acquisitions and directed financings totaling $1.9 billion. From 1995 through 2009, Ms. Aquino served as Senior and Assistant Vice Presidents responsible for organizing new investment vehicles. During this time, The Shidler Group formed and capitalized three public companies and completed the founding and private placements of several privately-held operating companies. From 1993 to 1995, Ms. Aquino operated as a senior associate in R&D, during which The Shidler Group formed two of its first real estate investment trusts and completed both of their initial public offerings. Ms. Aquino joined The Shidler Group in its Honolulu office in 1991 as an assistant in finance and operations. Prior to joining The Shidler Group, Ms. Aquino served for three years in increasingly prominent roles at a real estate brokerage firm.

Anthony Talbert

Mr. Talbert is a Partner of The Shidler Group, where he is responsible for acquisitions, capital markets and developing new investment initiatives, including The Shidler Group’s most recent hotel and net-lease investment platforms. Since joining The Shidler Group in 2013, Mr. Talbert has been instrumental in establishing the Shidler Group’s 2,735 key select service hotel portfolio and has played a key role in the acquisition of over four million square feet of commercial business district office assets. Mr. Talbert was previously with Chatham Financial Group for 13 years, where he co-founded the firm’s real estate investment banking practice. In this role, Mr. Talbert specialized in capital raising and complex debt advisory assignments, including a $1.3 billion securitization of One Bryant Park in New York. Mr. Talbert also founded Chatham’s commercial defeasance practice, which today is one of the most active defeasance advisory firms in the country. Mr. Talbert began his career on Chatham’s derivative desk, where he executed over $100 billion in interest rate and foreign currency trades to hedge client risks. Mr. Talbert earned a Bachelor of Science degree with honors in industrial engineering from The Pennsylvania State University and a masters of business administration degree from Columbia Business School.

Jeffrey Carswell

Mr. Carswell is a Partner of The Shidler Group, primarily focusing on the financing of new acquisitions and the development of joint venture relationships with capital and operational partners. As such, Mr. Carswell has employed his in-depth knowledge of securitized markets and structured finance solutions to lead the structuring and funding of debt instruments totaling in excess of $1.5 billion. Mr. Carswell joined the Shidler Group in 2011 as Director of Capital Markets of Alliance Partners, one of The Shidler Group’s affiliated companies, where he led the acquisition and financing of office and industrial assets valued at $750 million. Prior to joining the Shidler Group, Mr. Carswell was the founder and CEO of Oak River Capital LLC, a boutique investment-banking firm focused on capital raising and restructuring advisory services. Mr. Carswell began his career in the health care industry, filling progressively expanded roles for a behavioral health care provider based in Washington, D.C. Eventually reaching the position of Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Carswell was responsible for all operations spanning three states and managing a workforce of 300 employees. Mr. Carswell holds a bachelor of arts degree in psychology from Villanova University and resides in Bethesda, Md.
