Bill W. Shoptaw is the Founder and the Chairman and CEO of TSG. Mr. Shoptaw leads TSG and its overall strategic direction. Mr. Shoptaw is responsible for raising equity capital, directing investor relations, and involved in all aspects of TSG’s investment activities. He serves as Chair of the Investment Committee. Previously, Mr. Shoptaw served as Chairman and CEO of Shoptaw-James, Inc., a commercial mortgage banking company that he co-founded in 1974 and sold in 1997. Under his leadership, Shoptaw-James, Inc. originated over $12 billion of mortgage loans for financial institutions and managed a mortgage servicing portfolio in excess of $1.2 billion. Mr. Shoptaw was also a sponsor and founder of Main America Capital, L.L.C., a commercial mortgage lending and securitization company that originated in excess of $250 million in commercial mortgage loans; he served as CEO of Main America Capital, L.L.C. until its sale in 1998 to an affiliate of GMAC. Mr. Shoptaw is a graduate of the School of Mortgage Banking sponsored by Northwestern University and the Atlanta Institute of Real Estate.
Emily-May Richards is the CFO and COO of TSG. Ms. Richards is responsible for directing the financial, accounting, tax, administrative, legal and reporting functions at TSG. She serves as a member of the Investment Committee. Ms. Richards is a CPA with an extensive background in finance. Previously, she served as Corporate Controller at KSL Recreation Corporation, responsible for accounting, tax, and financial reporting for $1.5 billion of resort properties and real estate. She also served as CEO of her own company, The Richards Group, P.C., a CPA firm providing accounting, tax and management advisory services, and as a Vice President for The First National Bank of Atlanta. Ms. Richards received a Bachelor of Science with high honors from the University of Delaware and a Masters of Business Administration from Georgia State University. Ms. Richards has worked at TSG since 2000.
Walt B. Plyler is the President of TSG. Mr. Plyler helps develop and execute TSG’s strategic direction. Mr. Plyler is responsible for directing all aspects of TSG’s investment activities, including raising equity capital, managing investor relations, sourcing and underwriting investments, and obtaining property financing. He serves as a member of the Investment Committee. Previously, he served as a Vice President for Countrywide Commercial Real Estate Finance, Inc., where he was involved in the origination, underwriting and securitization of over $2 billion in commercial real estate mortgages. He also served as an Experienced Associate in the Assurance & Business Advisory practice of Arthur Andersen, LLP. Mr. Plyler received a Bachelor of Science with Special Attainments in Commerce from Washington & Lee University where he majored in Business Administration and Accounting. Mr. Plyler has worked at TSG since 2008.
B. Robin Riecke is the Executive Vice President of TSG. Ms. Riecke is responsible for the asset management of TSG’s multifamily investment portfolio and is directly involved in all aspects of TSG’s investment activities, including sourcing and underwriting investments, executing strategic operating plans for its properties, and selecting and managing TSG’s third-party property management companies. She serves as a member of the Investment Committee. Previously, Ms. Riecke served as a Senior Regional Manager for Gables Residential Trust, where she oversaw the management of more than 3,500 multifamily units. Prior to Gables, she served as a Senior Regional Manager for Trammell Crow Residential and Johnstown American Properties. Ms. Riecke attended West Georgia College and received training at the Disney Institute, the Ritz-Carlton Leadership Center, and the Dr. Jerry Bell Leadership Conference. She is a member of IREM (Institute of Real Estate Management), Atlanta Apartment Association, and earned the CPM (Certified Property Manager) designation in 2004. Ms. Riecke has worked at TSG since 2001.
Allyson S. Watkins is a Vice President of TSG. Ms. Watkins is responsible for company marketing, handling investor relations, and assisting in the evaluation of investments. She serves as a member of the Investment Committee. Previously, she served as a project director for Gellerstedt Development, a leasing broker with Cushman & Wakefield, and a relationship underwriter for Bank of America. Ms. Watkins received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Georgia and received a Masters of Real Estate Development from the University of Southern California. Ms. Watkins has worked at TSG since 2000.
