VWR Capital Corp. traces its roots back to the early 1990s when our founder and current President, Dougal Shewan, saw the opportunity to establish a Mortgage Investment Corporation (MIC). Inspired by his passion for urban land economics, finance and the mortgage industry, Dougal felt that the time was right to put his extensive real estate experience to work in a new venture offering alternative mortgage financing.

As the Chief Operating Officer of VWR Capital Corp., Dimitri is responsible for setting underwriting policy and managing VWR’s team of underwriters and business development managers. In addition to his responsibilities with VWR Capital Corp., Dimitri also served as President of the BC MIC Managers Association, an industry association representing over 20 MICs in British Columbia. Dimitri graduated with honors from California State University, Los Angeles with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and completed graduate work at the University of Southern California. He completed the UBC Sauder School of Business sub-mortgage broker licensing course and is a registered sub-mortgage broker in BC. Dimitri is a member of the Mortgage Brokers Association of BC (MBABC) and a corporate member of the Canadian Association of Accredited Mortgage Professionals (CAAMP). Dimitri also serves as Vice Chair for the Langley Community Services Society, a provider of community-based services dedicated to the well being of individuals and families in the Langley community.

Dougal is an acknowledged leader in the BC real estate industry. His passion for real estate and strong commitment to VWR’s partners and stakeholders have been the driving forces behind the growth and success of the company. Dougal is the President of Dominion Lending Centres Valley Financial Specialists and a Managing Broker for Royal LePage Wolstencroft. He is also a current director and Vice Chair of the Real Estate Errors and Omissions Corporation of British Columbia and a past Chair of the Real Estate Council of British Columbia, as well as a member of various provincial and national industry bodies. Dougal graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Commerce in 1978 and a Master of Business Administration in 1986. He serves as a Trustee for the United Churches of Langley and is the President of the Shewan Foundation, a family-operated charity providing donations to many worthy local charities.

Marni leads VWR’s finance and administration team, and is also responsible for investor relations. She is a professional accountant with many years of experience across a diverse range of industries. Marni received her CGA designation in 2002 and is a graduate of Laurentian University with an Honours Bachelor of Commerce Degree.
