Mr. Wilkinson is Founder and Chairman of the Board for Wilkinson Corporation, formally beginning operations in 1992. Russ has been involved in construction, rehabilitation and ownership of rental investment properties for more than 30 years. He launched his entrepreneurial career at age 17 as a painting contractor, which he used to help pay his tuition through college. With a focus on business administration during his student years, he moved to Hawaii and started United Painting Corporation, a company that eventually became one of the largest and most respected commercial paint contracting firms on the Big Island of Hawaii. In 1985 he joined Quest International, a family-run company that grew into of the world's largest membership-based hospitality clubs with a global membership of more than 4.5 million members. The family sold Quest International and its sister company, Destinations, Inc. to the J.C. Penney Company, in 1998. During his tenure with Quest, Russ founded Wilkinson Corporation. Specializing in opportunistic commercial real estate acquisitions, the company and its subsidiaries have conducted nearly a billion dollars in real estate transactions, including multiple apartment and student residential complexes, senior housing, office and industrial buildings, development projects, and other properties on behalf of investors. In 2003 the company moved into senior housing and by 2006 had purchased more than 50 senior communities with over 3,000 senior care units. In 2004, during the start of Wilkinson’s foray into senior housing, the company acquired Good Neighbor Care Centers, LLC (GNC), a Eugene, Oregon-based seasoned senior and memory care community operator. By 2008 Wilkinson had grown GNC into the nation’s 18th largest assisted living operator. Since that time, through ownership transitions and the addition of operational lease-up strategies for newly developed senior communities (particularly in Illinois and Texas), GNC now operates in impressive portfolio of senior communities across the United States. During that same period of time, Mr. Wilkinson helped develop Wilkinson Asset Management, LLC, which now manages approximately 3,300 student and conventional apartment units in multiple states. Wilkinson Corporation's development subsidiary, Wilkinson Development, LLC, built its first three senior communities in rural Illinois, with the final community opening its doors in July of 2009. The portfolio achieved stabilization and occupancy in the high 90% range in early 2011. The Wilkinson Family of Companies continues to build its real estate legacy, forging development partnerships and joint ventures in senior housing and acquiring value-based multi-family assets across the country.
As Wilkinson Corporation’s Chief Executive Officer, Lonnie spearheads the search and development of new business opportunities for Wilkinson Corporation. As President of the company from 2004 through 2009, he was in charge of day-to-day operations, building the companies' management team and overseeing its strategic direction and growth. Lonnie supervised the acquisition of Good Neighbor Care Centers, LLC in September 2004 and took on the role as Chairman of the Board of that company, where he assumed responsibility for shaping the company's path and expansion. Prior to joining Wilkinson Corporation, Lonnie was cofounder/chair and president of Business Advantage, a strategic management and executive coaching firm, which had long term consulting contracts with hundreds of presidents and CEOs around the United States. Lonnie also served as a director of business development for Advanced Business Concepts, an entrepreneurial training company that had entrepreneur training contracts with several thousand small business owners. His business experience also includes leading inside sales and marketing efforts for software maker, Attachmate Corporation, which grew from 35 employees to more than 1,000 employees during his six-year tenure.
James has been with the company since 2003 and began his tenure with Wilkinson Corporation as Vice President of Marketing. He was integral in the development of Wilkinson Properties Fund VII, Limited Partnership, developing, designing, and producing the required documents and related presentation materials. Additionally, Jim helped identify and raise equity for many Wilkinson real estate investments. In 1982 Jim co-founded Quest International with his brother Ron, which became one of the world's largest travel membership clubs with approximately 4.5 million cardholders. Quest International provided services to Amoco Motor Club, Reader's Digest subscribers, Ford Motor Company (Lincoln and Red Carpet Leaseholders), Chevron, J.C. Penney, and others. In the spring of 1998 Quest International was acquired by J.C. Penney Company, Inc. Jim received his degree in Business Administration from Walla Walla College in Walla Walla, Washington. Since coming to Wilkinson Corporation, Jim has been essential in founding Wilkinson 1031, LLC and Wilkinson Asset Management, LLC, two subsidiaries that have been crucial to the growth and success of the Wilkinson Family of Companies. Wilkinson 1031 continues to maintain its Tenant In Common owned portfolios established from 2004 through 2008 in the multi-family, student and senior housing sectors. Wilkinson Asset Management has grown from an operational oversight entity to a world-class, full-service property management firm now operating more than 3,300 apartments nationwide.
