Ryan Hanks

Ryan has substantial experience in all aspects of acquisition and development, with a particular focus on multifamily communities. He was a founding member and served as the Chief Investment Officer and Interim Chief Operating Officer of Trade Street Residential, Inc. (NASDAQ:TSRE), a REIT focused on acquiring, owning, and operating apartment communities in the Southeastern United States, including Texas. In 2009 Ryan started his own private real estate company with a focus on acquiring apartment communities in the Southeast as well as land for the purpose of multi-family and commercial development. Prior to that, he was with Apartment Realty Advisors, the nation's second largest apartment brokerage firm specializing in the disposition of multifamily communities on behalf of private and institutional investors. Prior to ARA, Ryan served as Vice President of Development and Acquisitions for a company that specialized in the ownership, management, and development of multifamily communities across the country. He was responsible for sourcing acquisition and development opportunities in the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast. Ryan attended Liberty University and is a member of the Charlotte Apartment Association, Urban Land Institute, National Multi-Housing Council, and the Center for Transit Oriented Development.

Erik Johnson

Erik brings considerable experience in deal sourcing, underwriting, equity and debt structuring, and asset management to the firm. He was previously Senior Vice President of Finance for Campus Crest Communities, Inc. (NYSE:CCG), a $1 billion REIT focused on developing, operating and owning high-quality student housing properties across North America. In this role, Erik was responsible for the development and implementation of capital markets strategies, evaluating and underwriting acquisition opportunities, sourcing growth capital, overseeing the asset management function, managing joint venture relationships, and leading the investor relations program. Prior to joining Campus Crest, he worked in J.P. Morgan’s Real Estate & Lodging Investment Banking Group where he advised clients on M&A transactions and raised over $6.5 billion of debt and equity capital. Erik began his career at Wells Fargo, where he completed the firm’s Credit Management Training Program and provided large real estate firms with acquisition and development financing at both the corporate and project level. Erik received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Masters of Business Administration from The University of Texas at Austin. He is a member of the Urban Land Institute and serves on the Advisory Board of the McCombs School of Business REIT Fund at The University of Texas at Austin.

Jay Levell

Jay has significant experience in identifying, underwriting, structuring, capital sourcing, repositioning and realizing value in real estate investments. Prior to forming White Point with Ryan and Erik, Jay was a Partner at Berkeley Capital Advisors, a boutique retail investment brokerage firm that deals exclusively in the representation of income-producing real estate in the Carolinas and throughout the Southeast. During his eleven years with Berkeley, he focused on the sale of net-leased properties with a specialization in the 1031 tax-deferred exchange market, and successfully structured over 350 transactions with an aggregate value of over $800 million. In addition to structuring transactions, Jay was very involved in advising clients in the upfront structuring of leases and master development governing documents. Clients included public, private and institutional entities, including Regency Centers, Kite Realty Group, CNL Crosland, Childress Klein, Harris Teeter Supermarkets, Tribek Properties and WRS Realty, among others. In 2012, Jay formed his own private real estate company which focused on the acquisition and either subsequent sale or redevelopment of well-located, underutilized infill parcels in high barrier-to-entry sub-markets. Jay received his Bachelor of Arts in Economics from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers and the Urban Land Institute.
